    The duchesse de Gramont asks when de László will be returning to Paris as she has received enquiries from the duchesse de Montmorency and the comtesse de la Rochefoucauld. The Romanian sovereigns recently visited Paris. The comtesse de Noailles' portrait [5144], a "vivid success", has been damaged by a spot of varnish and she wishes to consult the artist. Paris is readying itself for the Olympic games—the duchesse de Gramont organised the Degas exhibition at Galerie Georges Petit (DLA015-0075 previously contained a cache of letters from the duchesse de Gramont and duc de Guiche to de László. The cache of letters has been split and the new DLA numbers are: DLA015-0082 to DLA015-0092, AD 18/02/21)

    Multiple letters. Letter dated 18 February 1924 from Bálint Hóman to de László thanking the artist for his gift to the National Széchenyi Library (presumed to be Oakley Williams' edited publication, "Selections from The Work of P.A. de László"). Hóman encloses his inaugural speech as Director General of the Hungarian National Museum. Second letter is a draft reply in de László's hand thanking Hóman for the copy of the inaugural speech. He reminisces about his childhood visits to the picture gallery. "I remember nearly every one of the pictures", he writes (item was previously archived with DLA015-0023) (DLA015-0080 ref'd in Hart-Davis as DLA015-0023, ch1, p4, fn14, notes p288)

    The duc de Guiche, writing from his holidays in Calvados, is glad to hear that de László will soon depart for Norway; he will benefit from the rest and can paint some maritime pictures. He recently had lunch with Sargent, who looked "comparatively young" and "fresh" notwithstanding his age. After lunch, he saw Sargent's Wertheimer portraits. The duc left a golf club at Worplesdon (item was previously archived with DLA015-0075)

    The duc de Guiche found de László's letter from Kissinger[?]. The avenue Henri Martin studio will be ready for de László upon his arrival. The duc knows the Queen of Greece and describes her as "very attractive." He writes of a forthcoming collaboration with de László's eldest son, Henry, who will come and work in Guiche's laboratory. They dined together at Bélugou's (item was previously archived with DLA015-0075).

She informs de László that the studio at avenue Henri Martin is under renovation. She would prefer he waits to paint the Queen of Greece until her return, but the "other 5 people" can be painted beforehand (item was previously archived with DLA015-0075)

    The duc de Guiche informs de László that of the pictures he completed in the avenue Henri Martin studio, the only remaining portrait is that of Pauline Leon, Marquise de Laborde [111005]. He is glad de László enjoyed such a successful time in Paris and only regrets that he was unable to "do anything in Versailles". The Hon. Daisy Fellowes, who had a sketch done by Sargent, would now like a sketch by de László and has asked the duc to arrange it (item was previously archived with DLA015-0075)
