    Marczi is convalescing after surgery. De László must paint portraits in order to pay tax, but hoping to start "big canvas" soon. Italy for 2-3 weeks with Lucy due to exhaustion. Three of de László's works were unveiled recently, including portraits of the Archbishop of Canterbury [6161] and Lord Cecil [4053]. Currently painting Lord Byng [3666].

Includes a press cutting from the "Yorkshire Post" (18 December 1934) concerning the auction of a blank canvas by de László which sold for £800.

    De László appears to have misdated the letter: see fns 1, 2 and 3 in transcription; letter likely dates to 13 August 1935

    Description of time in Bad Gastein. Clearly enjoyed meeting his brother in Salzburg and was sorry to see him go. fFeling his age and is anxious to make progress with his planned memoirs. Marczi helped furnish material for this by bringing letters from Budapest.
