    It is uncertain whether de László will have the opportunity to paint the Emperor. The Empress finds the portrait of Princess Victoria Luise [5090] charming, though she notes that the expression is somewhat serious. The arrival of the frames around the 18th is also noted.

    Countess Brockdorff’s picture arrived in London, but Eva Guinness could not be reached; she has asked the German embassy to store it temporarily and requests the box be collected for reproduction. His exhibition is eagerly anticipated (Schulte 1900). The Emperor, who approved portraits of the Empress [4960] and the Princess [5090] for inclusion, admired portraits of the Countess’ niece [4516] and brother-in-law [110793]. A reproduction of her sister’s portrait [possibly 111453] appears somewhat pale.

She notes that the reproductions her sister saw in Vienna and Paris are acceptable, provides an update on her drawing arriving in London, expresses everyone’s delight at his progress on the Pope painting [4509], and comments on Herkomer’s exhibition.
