    The sender apologises at length for not having replied to de László's invitation of the previous month, which, due to a change of address and various other circumstances, he did not receive until it was too late; he would now like to rearrange a meeting (DLA004-0016 and DLA004-0017 were previously partial items that have now been merged into DLA004-0016.     In this letter, Louis Felberman, a Hungarian author, writes of the death of one of de László's friends, very probably Doctor Sándor Nyári. He goes on to mention de László's portraits of Lady and Lord Weardale [7660] [7658], which he has recently seen, and describes them as "both magnificent and life like", adding that the sitters are "so pleased with them"

    Letter from Hungarian author Louis Felberman to de László regarding a problem he (Felberman) has encountered (not clearly stated in the letter but seems to have associated himself with some undesirable people). Felberman informs de László that he does not wish to trouble the Hon. Mrs Rothschild, but that he will send the letter regardless of the consequences, although he will see his lawyer again. He writes that his motives were honest and that he has "nothing to fear or to be ashamed of"

    The sender regrets having missed meeting de László and Mrs Sifton (possibly Mrs Winfield Sifton, née Jean Gazlay Donaldson) in the artist's studio, but hopes to be able to see "the picture" another time. In 1916, de László painted portraits of both Mrs Winfield Sifton [11227] and her husband at the time, Captain Winfield Burrows Sifton [7149]

"I'm afraid the enclosed letter is very long", he apologises, "but I find it very difficult to set forth my life in a few words." He also mentions bringing photographs of Lawson Wood's house to de László

    Letter from Susan Strong to de László informing the artist that Mr Agnew has given her a cheque for £200, which is a six month interest-free loan. In return, he has sent "for the great treasure", which she can regain at the end of the loan period. If she is unable to repay the loan, information will be required about the price of the portrait. She thanks de László for all he has done to help her "over this tragic time"
