He is currently painting Lord Reading [6747]. He will travel to Lisbon next month and then on to Madrid to visit King Alfonso XIII. He hopes to spend a few weeks in the south of Spain in order to do some studies for himself. He met the recipient's son and daughter-in-law in his Paris studio. Münz mentions the death of Wilhelm 'Vilmos' Kestranek's son in Brazil. A local industrialist with an enormous collection of "first-rate masters", "Herr von Auspitz" (possibly Stefan von Auspitz) will visit de Laszlo upon Münz's recommendation

Count Mensdorff will hopefully support him in Geneva, and he asks for de László's support too

    Sender: Münz, Sigmund (1859 - 1934)

Sigmund Münz thanks de László for the depiction of their circle at the Lido and for the portrait of the artist's son, John. He hopes Henry's nuptials (which de László did not approve of) will not cause any long-term damage. He is interested that de László is painting Lord Reading [6747] and that he is going to Lisbon. Whilst there, he should meet Sebastiano Nicotra, Apostolic Nuncio to Portugal. He may also meet Count Adelmann, Mrs Pagenstecher’s cousin

    Sender: Münz, Sigmund (1859 - 1934)

Recipient: László, Philip Alexius de (1869 - 1937)

The Stoddards, "great admirers" of de László's art and "committed Catholics", owned a copy of the portrait (either [5617] or [5624]) but it has been damaged

  • Personal 1925-1926, 016-0014

    Sender: Münz, Sigmund (1859 - 1934)

  • Personal 1925-1926, 016-0015

    Sender: Münz, Sigmund (1859 - 1934)

Recipient: László, Philip Alexius de (1869 - 1937)

    13/07/1926

Sigmund Münz has sent reproductions of Mellon [6418], Herrick [possibly 5601], the Archbishop of Canterbury [4632] and Mrs Coolidge [4171] to the "Nacion" with his article; he has kept aside the Queen of Greece [possibly 3270] and the self portrait. He plans to write another article about de László as a painter of women. De László should let him know about the Italian trip (DLA016-0024 was previously archived with this item)

  • Personal 1925-1926, 016-0016

    Sender: Münz, Sigmund (1859 - 1934)

Recipient: László, Philip Alexius de (1869 - 1937)

    01/05/1926

Sigmund Münz thanks de László for the news from America; he will publish the artist's impressions and asks if he will supply more. He commends him for concentrating on his war-painting. He has written to Stephen in Zurich and has told him to contact Dr Streit. He has also contacted Paul in Oxford regarding a memorandum for the League of Nations. Münz was recently guest of King Ferdinand of Bulgaria. He is preparing a book about the decline of the Habsburgs. He has not heard about the artist's memoirs for a long time
