Gyenes writes at length rebutting de László's suggestion that the Munkácsy Guild acted improperly in its handling of "The Indian Dancer" [sic] [9884], explaining that under standard prize-draw practice unsold ticket numbers result in the work reverting to the Guild. He objects to de László's implied threat to make the matter public and notes that although the painting has not yet been collected by the Municipal Museum, he lacks authority to release it without approval of the Guild's chairman, Lajos Márk. He assures de László that the work has been carefully safeguarded, attributes his delayed reply in part to Márk's forgetfulness, and notes that Strobl had offered to discuss the matter with de László during a visit to London.
